This needs to be broadcast, to be shared. I've seen this before and shared it. I'll share it again. I highly recommend that others join me and help. Copy the link at the top of your screen and post it on Twitter, Facebood, MeWe, any social media to which you subscribe. Like it on StumbleUpon. That is an extremely effect way of getting stories in front of others. When you share it, include a photo. Describe how the story made you feel. That will be the inducement that will make others pay attention.

On a personal note, my first three months in Vietnam were spent as the Chief of Casualty Reporting for the 9th Infantry Division. I was at the other end, the beginning of the process that the Colonel ended. I wrote the letters of condolence for the Division Commander, the chaplain, and the unit commander. Unlike earlier wars, infantry units were constantly engaged in Vietnam. For example, during WWII, an infantry unit might be actively engaged in combat a month or two during the entire span of the war. In Vietnam, infantrymen were engaged in active combat about three quarters of their one year tour of duty. Commanders had little time for paperwork. That's why this onerous duty fell on people like me. And yes, it ate at my soul too. I was trained as an infantry officer and now suffer survivor's guilt for being held back.

Marty, I got the burial at sea yesterday via email. Death notifications are some of the most tortuous duty...
As for races and fundraising, contact team Red, White, Blue. There should be a local chapter.
