Teach children how to think, not what to think. We have a dress code in our schools, and there are less distractions in that learning process I have found.

That's not the socialist way. Get with the program, SGT (Join to see). You will be indoctrinated, err assimilated.

I like that "Teach them HOW to think, not WHAT to think" -- I'm keeping that one with me!

Sgt Wayne Wood Schools in this country are not about self discovery. Kids will conform so that they may be turned into the mindless drones that their corporate masters want. There will not be free thinking. There will not be self expression. There is no place for having an opinion. There is not room for expressing an opinion. Sarcasm Off
This is just sad. First off it is a Math class, not a civics class. Secondly if had been the appropriate venue to discuss whether Trump's slogan bears racial overtones, that is what it should have been: a discussion. A debate. An exchange of ideas. Not everyone is going to agree, but that is what having an opinion means. I don't have to agree with you, you don't have to agree with me, but we have to respect each other's right to have our opinion. I am glad the school took action against the inappropriate actions of this teacher. Sadly the students are going to be punished as a substitute teacher is likely to have them lagging behind. When a new teacher is hired, the students will fall behind again as both teacher and students adjust to the new situation.
