I hope they choose the CH-53. With the exception of the USMC and USN, Germany is one of the few countries to still deploy the CH-53 platform. My self and many others in AFSOC were saddened when the Air Force replaced the MH-53's with the Osprey. But the 53's were getting expensive to maintain and parts were an issue.

The German "G" models are getting pretty old and were used extensively in Afghanistan so they are in need of replacement. For the what the Germans use it for the 53 would be a better choice than the 47.
