OK, I'll make a comment on this one. NATO, and especially now what is the EU, had the opportunity in the aftermath of the Collapse of the Soviet Union to integrate Russia into the Western European community and to reduce the need for NATO. Instead they, and the US went along, embarked on an aggressive expansion of NATO and a policy of recognizing every breakaway state as long as it wasn't Pro Russian, all the while the US provided the money and the muscle to accomplish these goals. One of the driving forces behind this expansion was the Germans, who benefitted by the expansion of the EU membership into it's export dominated market. The fairly blatant anti Slavic tone of the NATO intervention in the Balkans, NATO membership for the Baltic states and the push to include some of the larger break a ways like the Ukraine, plus the NATO intervention with the Russian allies Syria and Libya has brought us right back to the Cold War and this time it has nothing to do with Soviet Aggression. I hope that this president sees that we have a lot more to gain with the Russians as a friendly nation than one we oppose.

Good read, I know this will not go over well with those that have served in Germany or are still there but we need to pull out and the Germans defend themselves. We need to treat them like a child that has grown up and needs to go out in the world and make its own way. That means paying to defend themselves and being ready to as well. We are not doing Germany or a few other countries I can think of any favors by being there and paying for many things while putting up with those that hate us and want us gone. We should honor our treaties with them but we can pull back and make our foot print much smaller. We can no longer afford to be the worlds sugar daddy and policeman.
