I clean mine fairly often and rarely have misfeeds or failures. Good to know corrective action if it happens though.
I don't agree with everything the author says, including his distaste for SPORTS.

CW5 Jack Cardwell - Agreed, so if it was useless we wouldn't be using it. Or so I would hope. It works for folks who don't have an advanced grasp of firearms and their use.

TSgt David L. - “It is a bad procedure and is not used by those who are highly trained in manipulation of the AR-15.”

Here’s where I think he gets off track. From boot fittings in Basic Training to PT tests, to everything in the military, SPORTS is the attempt at a one-size fits all method for clearing weapons malfunctions. Every service member has to know a basic way of doing it. The cooks, admins, legal, etc.

Of course, there are more advanced methods. But that doesn’t make the most basic method bad. SPORTS is simple, generally effective in a neutral environment, and it introduces service members to their weapons and possible malfunctions and how to fix them.

SGT (Join to see) - Pretty much. There has to be something for the masses and SPORTS fills the need as well as anything the military has tried. It beats raising your hand in a fire fight and saying I have a "Jam"! Hahaha
