Will Cassini go out with a spash, or a crash, or a flash?
Almost 20 years after its launch on 15 October, 1997, Cassini will be honorably retired on Friday, September 15, 2017.
Just like I was sad when I had to turn in my old M151 Truck, Utility, 1/4 ton (Jeep), tomorrow I will be a little sad to watch Cassini go quietly into the night.
And will ponder the reasons for Cassini's planned demise: to avoid possibly contaminating a Saturn moon that might be capable of sustaining some form of life.
