I am not a fan of either Trump or Cruz, but Cruz should have bowed out.
I guess if you want to push your agenda what better format, national tv in front of millions of Republican.
He did back out on a pledge to support the winner, but I guess he lives up to the Trump moniker "lying Ted"

I agree it was time for him to rally behind Trump and help win the general election.

Support the man personally attacked his family? No. J would have lost all respect for him if he did. That pledge was voided the minute that Donald Trump slandered his wife and suggested that his father was somehow involved in JFK assassination. Politics or not, he went too far. As a center left democrat he has earned my respect for standing up for his family.
