PO1 John Crafton - Contrary to popular belief, there is more than one system in Europe. Britain's National Health Service is only *ONE* of many systems. Choice is there in Europe as in America. While living/working in England, my English wife belonged to the NHS while I belonged to a scheme named BUPA which was more localized. We both paid the same amount.
The only difference between Europe and America is that America trusts you to make your own insurance premium payment, Europe doesn't. Europe takes the premium out of your check before you get the check. So pharm never has to wonder if it will get paid. Hence, low prices.

PO1 John Crafton - A billion Europeans manage to get it to work... But then, when a billion Europeans stood up and said "yes, we want nationalized health care," they didn't have to dismantle:
1. a multi billion per year ambulance-chaser lawyer industry
2. a multi billion per year pharm industry
3. a multi billion per year medical insurance industry
These are uniquely Americanisms. Its not that we can't, its that we won't.

PO1 John Crafton - Its the same concept as TriCare. A pool of doctors all getting paid the same, using drugs that cost the same to treat people. The med systems in France, Germany, UK, etc are all the same system. Its the same principle. Thats what the EU did for health care. The way you guarantee is to pay up front. The other way is taxes. You have to be working in order to be taxed. So this is why outsourcing takes an act of God in most European countries. Having an English "green-card" due to an English wife, I was in continental Europe in 2015 and had my health needs met in the same manner with the same speed/quality and also - no cost (as it had already been paid). The German doctor pulled up my history and was able to do what he needed. My English brother in law will have the same thing happen. He'll be in Switzerland, get sick and gets the same care he gets "back home."

One thing to note is that the health care does not match the government. This confuses people. The EU in general is non-governmental. If you were communist when you joined, you're still communist. If you were democratic when you joined, etc. The EU is separate. This is how socialist, capitalist and democratic nations within it are all able to co-exist from a business sense.

A nationwide health care initiative a good idea! It needs to be fixed, good idea in my opinion when created but poor execution on some policies.

It's bull shit, it's broken and can not sustain itself. Ryan said today it's not true. Gop had many ideas over last 8 years and was ignored. They have a place already and will address it at its proper time in may.
