I am not surprised that the annual gambit in Washington, DC took place, as the budget deadline loomed the Continuing Resolution which will fund the government through April 28, 2017 passed just prior to the midnight deadline SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL.
Hopefully by this time next year most coal miners will be back at work and the EPA will be much more business friendly.
It is interesting to note that spending bill included the fast-track provisions to allow retired USMC General James Mattis to James Mattis to nominated and potentially confirmed to be the nest Secretary of Defense. Since Gen Mattis retired in 2013, he needs Congress to waive a seven-year cooling-off period.
Hopefully the next Congress and new President will be able to agree on much of the administration's agenda so that funding bills will be passed and there won't be a need for a continuing resolution.

It is a disgrace to fund the government in this way. The DoD is hurt when continuing resolutions are used to fund it because that caps its funds at the level of the previous year. The needs of the DoD are such that weapons programs must be funded and that leaves only operating budgets as a place of any wiggle room. I wish a law could be made that necessitates an annual federal budget or even a two, three or more year plan for expenditures.

LTC Stephen F., SSgt Robert Marx, with both houses of congress and the presidency in GOP hands, one hopes that they will return to regular order in budgeting. This will be easier to do since Harry Reid unleashed the "nuclear option" which allows the Senate to pass a bill with 51 votes instead of the customary 60.

These "Continuing Resolutions" need to stop. We need a REAL BUDGET and government accountability.
