CPT Jack Durish - Born on the 4th of July, Three Kings and Lincoln. The Wind Rises , and Incendies , just to make room for the Patriot.

Good choices. I'm not a fan of anything from Oliver Stone. I'd like one of those slots to put in Mrs Miniver

I wouldn't call Casablanca and Gone with the Wind "war movies". Were they set during a war? Well yeah, but is that the only criteria to make it a war movie? If so, It's a Wonderful Life should have been on the list. And the new Christopher Robin Movie should be considered a war movie since it had war scenes (yeah, surprised me too).
A girl once tried to get me to watch Gone with the Wind with her no less that 3 times. I'd start it but could never finish it. That typically doesn't happen to me with war movies. Especially good ones. Historically the women in my life refrain from war movies.

Yes, the critics seem to have crossed the line on a few. "Ran" is a great movie, a retelling of Shakespeare's "King Lear", hardly a war movie. And don't get me started on "Gone With The Wind". If I axe-murdered babies and went to hell, I figure that I would be forced to watch that movie for eternity as my punishment.

All Quiet on the Western Front 1930 wasn't on the list as far as I could see and that is a film Spielberg used to choreograph Saving Private Ryan. CPT Jack Durish
