RP Members it looks like the chanllenge to end homelessness for our veterans has really taken off, now why can't we do that for the rest of our population that needs homes?
Diane Dunn knows what it's like to have to find a home. She was homeless once, and she's a veteran. Now, she is a case worker with the Salvation Army in Guilford County and is doing her part to help end veteran homelessness.
"The track that we are on right now is that it will happen; it will happen this year; it will happen sooner rather than later," said Darryl Kosciak, executive director of Partners Ending Homelessness in Greensboro.
Guilford County was one of 75 communities around the U.S. with the goal of housing all veterans by the end of 2015. Only two communities met the goal, Guilford County was not one of them, but it came close. Last year local agencies identified 164 veterans who were homeless, and since then they've got 129 of them off the streets and into affordable apartments.
