I believe this conversation has come up before. I don't like the idea of direct commissions. There is no need to employ them as officers when there are other avenues such as contractors or Civil Service.

If they are not going to be trigger pullers and not expected to pass PT test, then it sounds like the job description of Civil Service. We have a lot of GS employees that go down range.
