I think its a case of "who bit who first".

If the Feminist Movement of a half century ago hadn't adopted a tone of reprisal against traditional male society...I suspect the events of 1918 and 1941 would've elevated women, by necessity, into positions of power. Frankly, and the evidence is there, women probably had more real access to power at the individual level-I mean three of the world's most powerful monarchs were all women (Elizabeth I, Catherine the Great, Victoria)...and guess what, their "uber-Male" subjects running about hacking each other with swords and blowing each other to bits with cannons adored them.

Now, only the uninformed would try to state that women as a whole had it "better" in the 16th, 18th, and 19th centuries as opposed to now...but like a lot of "movements", once you transform from "victim" to "activist", it is difficult not to draw fire.

LCDR (Join to see) , I find those comments that were made on twitter, etc unacceptable and no history is going to reverse that. Just my thoughts.

No argument there...crap is crap, regardless of who fills the can. I do think all too often "we" focus on the crap, and lose the issue though.

1stSgt (Join to see) - First; Have you gone to the movies anytime in the past two decades?

The type of behaviour which you complain about IS "socially acceptable" (although it is not socially acceptable to admit that you indulge in it yourself). Not only is it "socially acceptable" but it can be incredibly profitable.

COL Ted Mc , yes I have been to the movies in the past two decades. Actually, I was there a couple of months ago. What does that have to do with the way we address one another on the opposite side of the isle?
Profitable does make right and in my opinion, is actually wrong. If you won't say it to my face why, in hell, would you send it to my twitter feed (which I do not monitor anyway). I am trying to find an appropriate time to refer to my wife as a cunt, my neighbor as a nigger or the guy I work with as a Jew bastard. I am just not finding it. I may be all jacked up, but what was written to those women was wrong. As always, Just my opinion and Semper Fidelis.

1stSgt (Join to see) - First; What is portrayed in the movies (at least the ones that get major distribution) is what is "socially acceptable". Extreme violence is "socially acceptable".

On the other hand, some of us are just "old-fashioned" enough to believe that it really doesn't matter if something that is "wrong" is "socially acceptable". I'm proud to see that you are amongst the ranks of those who favour "civility" over "social norm".

And men do not see a large amount of vitriol? Better check in with GWB, Reagan, and Trump. Heck, just look on this forum and see what the vitriol is all about.

MCPO Roger Collins , I agree, men do see the same amount of vitriol. That doesn't make it right. My point is that I believe you should not write anything that you would not say to someone's face.
