Those numbers are not correct.
In 2015, there were 235 unarmed people killed by by the police. Racial & ethnic breakdown is: White-106, Black-79, Hispanic-39, Asian-5, American Indian-4, Unknown-2. That is out of a total of 1146 people who were killed by police that year, meaning that 20%, or 1 out of 5 of those who were killed by the police were unarmed.
In 2016, there were 170 unarmed people killed by by the police. Racial & ethnic breakdown is: White-95, Black-42, Hispanic-28, Asian-2, American Indian-2, Unknown-1. That is out of a total of 1093 people who were killed by police that year, meaning that 16%, or 1 out of 6 of those who were killed by the police were unarmed.
The Harvard study has been questioned for using incomplete data. The data I quoted came from the Guardian. The Washington Post has similar data, but only for officer-involved shootings.

I agree, we have bad folks that steal the thunder of those who do the right thing. But we know that strife or violence gets better press.

I wish the media would tell the truth. Have you heard those statistics? I knew when police pulled back things went south, but not how badly!
