This is one of the Coolest PCS moves ever. I don't think I would have even had the guts to ask to do let alone do it.

I had a friend in the Merchant Marines who would, every few years, buy an old wooden hull, restore it completely, then sail across the atlantic and putter around Europe for about 6 months. Then he'd sell it and return, and start working again to start the process all over.
