IMHO a consequence of the combination of our All Volunteer military and small US percentage of veterans. I recall visiting one of our facilities for audit review and general assessment. I had to wait for the warden who was interviewing candidates for mid-level security position. Coming from that, the warden congratulated me on the push to attract veterans. He said the guy was a great candidate but couldn't share much about his relevant military experience because he had been "special service" with a classified medical discharge. Impressive to non veterans. Made this old knuckle dragger shake his head. No we didn't hire him.

The current US Special Forces community is about 66,000 troops. Hang around on Facebook vet groups long enough, and you'll meet 972,000 of them.

Join nearly 2 million former and current members of the US military, just like you.
