I dont want it to be a Republican or a Democratic plan. I believe there are great minds on both sides. And then we can call it "The People's Plan". Why can't we have a bipartisan plan that puts " We The People" first. And forget about filling their coffers. Now that's something I could stand behind.

Thanks for sharing this story Capt Dwayne Conyers I remember seeing something on the news but did not follow it as I was doing other things. Watching that video of him helping his wife the day they died was hard. While it is easy for me to say, they went to their make together and their suffering is over. And while I know how hard it is for the family, the burden if you can call it that has been lifted. My aunt, like a second mother to us has dementia and its not easy.

This is a sad story, but it's not about the ACA. If she was disabled by her stroke, and had previously had earnings, she would have been getting Medicare and Social Security. The rub is that Medicare does not cover Long Term Care (neither does Tricare). And young people never buy long term care insurance because it is expensive, and because people never imagine becoming disabled at a young age.
The only option for most people is to deplete their assets and go on Medicaid, and go into a skilled care facility that Medicaid covers.
Moral of the story, if you are young and have no disqualifying conditions (of course most of us in the military/veteran world do) buy LTC insurance.
If you can't get LTC, the only other option is VA or your state's Soldier's Home.
