PFC Kimberly Staiti - I ask the same question when I see someone eating oysters (sea-going, armored boogers, as far as I'm concerned). But, at least I've tried them. Have you ever tried cicadas, grasshoppers, grubs, etc. No problem, more for the rest of us. We eat a lot of things in my home on a regular basis that most Americans turn their noses up at

If some people, somewhere in the world, will eat something on a regular basis; I will give it a try.

That's the only polite thing to do.
However, sir, I'm just saying as a kid who grew up on a ranch in Texas, you can believe I ate grasshoppers. I didn't like the feeling of their toes scratching inside my mouth. Now, ants were entirely different. You had to get a spoon or it was a waste of time. Squish em up and they had a slightly citrus taste. And they went well with the clover. I agree with you about oysters. Shellfish in general any bottom feeders are yuck.

We used to eat black beans and rice once a week to show the kids how different that is from pot roast or lasagna or enchiladas. Black beans and rice are delicious, though. I don't know what if anything was learned from that lesson!

PFC Kimberly Staiti - I'm certainly doing my best to be polite in someone else's home, but we search the internet for unusual "delicacies," even when its just me and my wife.

No chili like with black beans and chicken hearts, my favorite chili.
