Health Professionals Scholarship Program (HPSP) - PHYSICAL THERAPY

As a member of the Federal section of the APTA I got an email about this earlier this week. This is an awesome opportunity for anyone who is interested in becoming a PT, particularly those who want to work with Vets. Most programs are 3 years post-undergrad so paying with the GI Bill is out of the question for most folks which means 6 figure student loan debt for a lot of people entering a field which doesn't pay a ton when you graduate. From what I can tell they pay for your schooling and give you a stipend. After you graduate you work for the VA for a bit to "pay it back". I was able to observe at a VA before applying to PT school and despite the obvious issues the VA has they seemed pretty happy to be there. It's definitely not for everyone, but it can be a great opportunity. I think we need more Vets working as providers in the VA since they have a better idea of what we put our bodies through.
