Thanks for letting us know SGT John " Mac " McConnell Belated happy birthday to:
1. Henry Walton Wessells 1809 "Union Volunteers"
FYI Henry Walton Wessells was a graduate of the USMA, West Point class of 1833. He was the 735th person to graduate from USMA. For comparison my number is 37,403 and the most recent graduate is number 72,406.
2. Mahlon Dickerson Manson 1820 " Union Volunteers"
"Manson was born in Piqua, Ohio, to David Manson, Jr., and Sarah Cornwall. He was a descendant of David Manson, an aide to Revolutionary War General George Washington. His family moved to Crawfordsville, Indiana. He was a school teacher in Montgomery County, Indiana. He studied medicine in Cincinnati, Ohio, and gave medical lectures in New Orleans. During the Mexican-American War he served with the 5th Indiana Volunteers as a captain. He was a druggist in Crawfordsville, Indiana, and a member of the Indiana Legislature."
3. Edward Stuyvesant Bragg 1827 " Union Volunteers"
"Bragg was born in Unadilla, New York, the son of Margarette (Kohl) and Joel B. Bragg. Bragg attended district schools as a child. He then attended the local academy and Geneva College (today Hobart College) in Geneva, New York, where he was one of the charter members of The Kappa Alpha Society. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1848, commencing practice in Unadilla until 1850 when he moved to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, where he continued practicing law."
4. James Barbour Terrill 1838 "Confederate"
"was born on February 20, 1838 in Bath County, Virginia. He was practicing law in Warm Springs, Virginia when the American Civil War began. He joined the Confederate States Army and was elected major of the 13th Virginia Infantry Regiment in May 1861. He became colonel of the regiment after the Battle of Chancellorsville on May 15, 1863. On May 30, 1864, he was killed in action at the Battle of Totopotomoy Creek or Battle of Bethesda Church, which immediately preceded the Battle of Cold Harbor during the Overland Campaign. Terrill had already been nominated to the grade of brigadier general. The Confederate Senate posthumously confirmed the appointment on May 31, 1864, to rank from June 1, 1864."
