Jim,
I'm with you, brother. How fast do consumable supplies disappear when we're deployed in the field? They evaporate, or at least seem to do so. And when capable people with good weapons are on the other side trying to kill us, things can get beat up or destroyed rather quickly. Remember Robert S. McNamara and his operations research "wonder boys"? They created some of the worst equipment we've ever seen. They knew the cost of everything, but didn't know the value of anything.
