How far is too far when accommodating religious beliefs?

SSG Dennis R. When it interferes with military readiness. If the Corp can not deploy a Marine into combat then it begs for a question or two. Another consideration is should I join the Military if I can not get them to change to accommodate my personal requirements?

Should the english language be the spoken language in the military or should it be Pashto that will conform to the native language that some Afghans speak when they enlisted into the Corp?

Is the military a fighting force or a social experiment?

SPC Jeff Daley, PhD - A social experiment? That has been asked many times. Yes, it most certainly has been a social experiment. Blacks in uniform? Women in uniform? Blacks can fly? Integrate the military? The military is co-ed? Women in combat? Women on ships & (oh the horrors) submarines? Egads, they're even in space!
I do remember seeing the occasional Sikh in uniform over the years, but never interacted with them.
Why would the military deal any differently with an individual who's native language is Pashto than they do with the Spanish speaker? Are there conscientious objectors in the Marines? I know the other services have had them.
As the country changes, so does the military.

The more of this that they do, the worse recruiting will be.
