Fortunately we have medicare parts A&B along with Tri-care for life that covers most of our needs and living within 30 minutes of Tinker AFB utilizing the pharmacy there my meds are free. All of our previous operations me a cardiac stint put in place and the wifes gall bladder removed along with her eye operation and emergency visit due to a dog bite all were with no charge. Were wellcovered.

What am I missing? Medicare has nothing to do with whether you work or not. Go back to work and don't use employer medical benefits if you qualify for them, Medicare covers that. Heck, I worked for 20 years and never used employer medical because I had TRICARE and the last 3 after I turned 65 were Medicare and TFL.

If you’re going back to work and can get employer health coverage that is considered acceptable as primary coverage, you are allowed to drop Medicare and re-enroll again without penalties. If you drop Medicare and don’t have creditable employer coverage, you’ll face penalties when getting Medicare back.
