I had to have an NG Tube inserted and removed while awake back in 84, very close to worst medical procedure of my life. It would seem this has a different function but passes the same "gag" response area.

Yup. I had both NG tubes and endoscopies performed back in '79 when they discovered I was riddled with gastric ulcers. Without lidocaine or the "happy meds" they use now, it was a daunting experience to say the least. . . .

Just like we don't do CPR practice on alive conscious individuals, practicing intubating with an airway should on a conscious person should not be done...you can damage their airway. Take a class from a licensed provider who useds a manikin.

Leave it to service personnel to play with things that aren't to be played with unless actually needed.
