Historic Flight

Great concept! This is a great start using modern materials plus solar power. Everything has to start somewhere, right? However, at the moment, I would say it's more properly a "hovercraft" rather than a helicopter, since it requires " ground effect" (ground cushion) to fly. Once the machine is capable of getting airborne to heights above the length of the blades - outside of ground effect - with maneuverability, it would meet the definition. The powered version got off the ground but was deemed too hazardous for the pilot.

CPT Jack Durish IF they can add batteries that are being charged when the aircraft is sitting on the ground so that it is not dependent on being able to receive enough sunlight to provide power, and they can get the size scaled down, then it might be. As of right now, it is great that they are thinking this way, but as of right now it is not more than a curiosity.
