An interesting but poorly researched and written article. One, it is primarily and poorly written Hitler/German hit piece. Two, though (corrected spelling) the title may be accurate (it was a game changer) but it is poorly supported in the article.

So in reality, the Baleo Class Fleet Submarines were still the best Submarines in WWII. A number of first on American Subs, first naval vessels with AC, although it was as much about reducing moisture to preserve the electronic equipment. The boats were bigger with better quarters and much longer range. Comparatively, the Baleo's could operate on a much longer patrol and were comfortable enough to keep the crew in some kind of fighting condition.

They were ahead in technology but lucky for us much of it never implemented.
