I wonder how many people are looking more closely at the change in their pocket. Not me, actually. I don't carry change anymore, rarely even paper money. This makes me wonder how long it will be before credit cards become a rarity...

Look at China... most transactions there occur through paypal/applepay equivalents. IIRC about 80%

Wow, I remember as a kid in the early 50's we were always looking for the copper 1942 penny Sgt Wayne Wood. My father would tell us we would never find one, even back then.!

To this day, I keep any 1958 and earlier wheat cent. Today, they have so many varieties. Canada stop making pennies in 2012. It is much more convenient to use nickels and round up or round down.

Sgt Wayne Wood - being an AMATEUR numismatist ( aka - coin collector ), I always go through my change! I LOVE finding pre-1964 silver coins! I collected them for a LONG time, and when silver hit an all time high in 2011, I sold them for their silver content. I think a 50 cent piece was at five dollars (or more). It was crazy. I think for a pound of silver coins, I was paid over a thousand dollars ( that is when silver was over $45 an ounce in 2011 )

In my safe, I have a roll of John F Kennedy half dollars that my dad stashed in 1964. They are nearly uncirculated. I still did the same thing that you do. Canada also had silver coins as well before 1966.
