** WARNING - FRAUDULENT E-MAILS "CLAIMING" THEY ARE THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE.***
I just received TWO this morning, and I forwarded them to IC3.GOV, FBI.GOV and [login to see] . This is USPIS.GOV's response:
Thank you for contacting us. This mailbox monitors U.S. Postal Service(r) spam email, and your message is being reviewed by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service(r). The Postal Inspection Service is a federal law enforcement agency with jurisdiction over more than 200 federal laws related to protecting the U.S. Postal Service, defending the nation's mail system from illegal or dangerous use, and ensuring public trust in the mail.
We know that some postal customers have received bogus emails about a package delivery or online postage charge. The emails contain a link or an attachment that, when opened, installs a malicious virus that can steal personal information from your computer.
The email claims to be from the U.S. Postal Service and likely contains fraudulent information about a package delivery or postage charge. You're instructed to click on a link, open an attachment, or print a label.
But Postal Inspectors warn: Don't click on the link or open the attachment!
