Look up Octave also, a comparable package, as well as other stuff on the Sourceforge site, and also have him look at NIST DATAPLOT, a free government science language package from NIST, and also NIH ImageJ, used for clinical image processing, originally, however, with numerous other uses, also, SPSS, AutoSignal, TableCurve 2D, TableCurve 3D, SYSTAT, and Sigview, that all should keep him going for quite a spell technically, I assure you, of you want more stuff on those, I've got it, just look them up, you'll see them, or he would, promise....

Trust !e, those sites are all quite good, of I think of others, I'll send them...is he STEM oriented, I take it? High school? Undergrad? Grad? Clinical? I'd just wondered, of I know his level and/or interests, I might he able to send stuff more expressly suited for what he'd have an express interest in, you know?
