For the last few years republicans have been saying that for Obamas first two years in office he could have passed any legislation he wanted because the dems controlled both houses. It wasn't true then, and now the repubs are learning the hard way why that is. Governing is way more complicated than that.

Do not generally agree with you Sir. But you are spot on. Thinking that less than three months into an administration (controlling both houses) the current health care train wreck (and it is a disaster) would be fixed was silly. They should have done taxes first as until that is sorted health care will be even more complicated. Since they did not do that I am glad this failed as it will take much longer than three months to have a rational, workable plan. The idiocy of polarized parties "at war" which are actually essentially the same parties (let's be honest) virtue signaling, and manipulating manufacured wedge issues screws all of us. Sad that a great nation allows two broken parties to divide and rape them. But then again. we are all pawns in the game not victims of chance.

Blah blah blah. Gloat if you like, no skin off my nose. Here's the thing, though: Presidents have legislation shot down all the time. Since Washington. Big whoop. Will you be as vocal when they retool it and come back with a proposal that passes? I suspect not.

Capt Jeff S. - I seem to recall we avoided a depression with that spending. Sure spending it sucked, the only thing worse would have been not doing it. A common mistake people make when calculating the cost of an action is to forget to calculate the cost of inaction.

That spending went straight into the pockets of those who donated lots to Obama. It didn't go directly back into the economy. Think Solyndra! They threw lavish parties for themselves after having gotten the windfall government contract only to squander it and go bankrupt. Nobody was held accountable -- and taxpayers were left holding the bag. And Solyndra is but one of many examples of the fraud, waste, and abuse of that so-called stimulus money. It stimulated the pockets of those that helped to install a constitutionally unqualified FRAUD!

We avoided a depression? In word only. We just borrowed our way out of it and added $10 trillion to the National Debt! In effect, we put off the pain, because we felt entitled to that which we could not afford and rather than absorbing the pain ourselves, we saddled future generations with the expense of our entitlements!!! Thomas Jefferson said that every generation should be responsible for the debt it incurs. Obama might fancy himself as an Abraham Lincoln (who shredded the Constitution and consolidated power in the Federal Government), but he surely was no Thomas Jefferson!

Do you know what real unemployment was? Or did you just swallow the crap you were fed? Take a look around and note how many people are underemployed or not working. When people quit looking for jobs and use up all their unemployment benefits, they no longer count as unemployed... Yet for all practical purposes they are! Call it Obamamath... and count on your base being so STOOPID that they don't even bother to check out what they are told. And worse, the Democratic base don't care if they're being lied to. What impresses them most is how big a lie their politician can lay on them and get away with. Who in their right mind would support a con job like Obama or Hillary? Your bulb can't be burning too bright if you think either of them was qualified to lead this country. Those who supported them were dupes. The uninformed just swallowed the empty promises of Hope and Change and all the rest of the lies like good little Progressive minions, whose job is to support the Ruling Class with their votes, and give up their liberties so they can be managed like pigs and fed a bunch of swill... scraps of garbage that they eagerly gobble up. Yum!

If you live in a bubble where most everyone you know works for the gub'ment, or for a contractor that does work for big gub-ment, then try associating with blue collar people that live and work exclusively in the Private Sector and ask them what they think of the economy. Talk to them and ask them what happened to their health insurance. Some, VERY FEW, will tell you it helped them. It helped those who vote for a living and those that have pre-existing conditions. The overwhelming majority of tax base contributors will tell you they pay a whole lot more for a lot less healthcare. Premiums for some have doubled and even tripled.

"A common mistake people make when calculating the cost of an action is to forget to calculate the cost of inaction."

No, I think the common mistake YOU made was that you didn't calculate the cost you were saddling the next generation with. Just you wait. When the next generation is in charge and you need healthcare, THEY will remember what OUR generation did to them. They will have so much just to service the interest on the debt we left them, let alone to pay for their own health care, they aren't going to have anything left for you. AND THEY will be the ones in Congress voting on these things! If I were you, I would start exercising and eating very healthy! Just sayin'...

They will NOT come back with a better bill because the Tea Party wants to get rid of pre-existing conditions and not being able to stay on your parents plan until you are 26.

Not unusual for a president to have trouble getting legislation passed (although it's usually easier when your party controls everything), but this particular president often bragged about how he would "win" everything......we were going to get tired of all the "winning"......if having his travel ban stopped in it's tracks twice, having to fire his closest national security advisor, having the FBI director shoot down his big Obama accusation, and now having the health care plan crash and burn (despite him getting personally involved and trying to negotiate and then bully the "no" votes)......if that's how he defines "winning".........it's going to be a long 4 years.

Just dawned on me how much this must bug Trump.......when Obama pushed to get his health care bill through, he did it.......when Trump tried to push his health care bill through, it crashed and burned. A little red faced, ya think?
