This bridge has had far too many suicides, sadly...
I had been over that bridge many times during my assignment in SD. I always wondered why it was like driving the Indy 500. Everyone was racing at 90 MPH. I never did figure it out, but to defend the bridge, I had cause to cross it late at night on several occasions and found the view from the top to be really quite beautiful with the ships at the Naval Station on one side and the lights of the city on the other. I haven't been back there since 1987 so I imagine things have changed a lot since then.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel My wife hates bridges. I am fairly certain she would file for divorce and stay on the SD side rather than have to endure that bridge.

PO3 Steven Sherrill - I'll shinny up the Mast of a Ship in the Blink of an Eye, I got plenty of safety equip on, damn near impossible for me to fall same goes for the Inside of the Mast with all the Safety Nets but not a lot of Hand Holds or Safety Equipment on that Damn Bridge. Whichever side we were parked on is the side I stayed on.
