How France created the metric system

Interesting read on the history of the metric system.

Now I know who to blame, that my US build cars and motorcycles have both SEA and Metric bolts. As an old school mechanic from the 60's and 70's, I just hate metric, but live with it, just like when bolts are 6 point and 12 point.

Fun fact. the latitude line that the runs through the great pyramids is also the speed of light in M/S
