Gender-equality. What a concept. I wish I had "equality" when I fought for custody of my children from my first marriage. I wish I had "equality" when it came to discussing important issues such as abortion. But the mustache should be the giveaway. I'm a man. Children go to the mother regardless (and one died). Can I have an opinion on abortion? Sure, so long as I keep it to myself. And countless studies have shown that women are receiving equal pay for equal work when all factors are considered. Comparing a woman with half the time on the same job with a man, is not about equivalency. No, what we're talking about is metaphors. Propaganda. I have women in my life whom I greatly love. I want them treated fairly. And before you label me a chauvinist, consider that I once resigned from a job because a woman was told by our boss that I was receiving a higher wage because I was, after all, a man and had a family to support. I told the boss to take my wage and give her a raise.

The story was a bit disjointed. I think the metaphore half with the crime statitistics being mentiond at the beginning vs the female glass ceiling stuff at the end made it difficult to see the main point.

I am not 100% sure because of it. The metaphore part at the beginning with crime statistics was interesting. The commentary on the british paper saying women cause corporate problems was alarming. The hiring of female executives by failing companies for the sole purpose of seeing them fail is a stretch. Could it be that these failing companies instead see the female ceo as a great departure from the norm potentially enough to turn things around? Why say companies do this to hurt women if they may be doing it because they think the situation needs a change? How do we kniw for sure? Writing an article stating one theory as fact is not right either.

Your comments are spot on. Political discourse and the terms the parties and groups choose to use are designed to illicit an emotional reaction. They learned long ago that emotional manipulation is much easier to do than logical arguments in a complex world that doesn't fit well with anyone's ideology. Also, ideas tend to be much stickier (people will be more likely to hold on to them) if they are based on emotion.
