The problem with Pakistan is racism. Not religion. While they are Muslim in nature and therefore a prime fear for any administration, the threat of them giving nuclear weapons/tech away to another Islamic nation is over-ridden by their racism. They hate the Indians so much that everything they do militarily is geared towards a future conflict with their former empire-mates. Sadly, India fuels the fire on a lot of this as well. Like the Arab-Israeli conflicts, political strife between India and Pakistan is also very predictable. In fact, not to be bitchy sarcastic, but I'm honestly surprised they both haven't nuked each other yet already.

Maybe you mean nationalism. Pakistan and India used to be the same country so they are just about the same people with different ethnicities. I used to work with this Indian girl and I would sometimes call her Pakistani just to rag on her. She gets possed even though she was raised in the US. Makes me wonder if they even know why they dislike each other.

SSG (Join to see) - They are Muslim but unlike the other 99.9999999% of Muslim nations, they pretty much do what they want. They pay little attention to Mecca, etc. Indians - being notoriously British - were raised to have classes (castes) and anyone worshipping other than the majority was frowned upon. There was naturally friction between the Muslims and non-Muslims and Sikhs. Britain would routinely drive in and machine-gun the place to the ground when it got too rowdy and things would be okay for a year or two. Then another riot or civil war would rise up and Britain would have to do the same thing again.
Britain basically couldn't wait to be rid of the whole place and as soon as they could, they dumped India hard. Prior to doing so, they partitioned it with the Muslim chunk being "Pakistan" and the rest being India and the Sikhs kind of left to their own devices. Amazingly, the Sikhs are able to live in both places with Indians feeling that they are fellow "Pakistani haters" and Pakistanis feeling that they are fellow "Indian haters." Weird dynamic.
All of the Indo-Pakistani wars have basically been over petty issues. Like Iran's exhortations that it will "wipe Israel from the face of the earth," Pakistans' nuclear program was approved with much bleating from the "Indian haters" over there. India's program likewise, had much "anti P'stan" influence.

PO3 Donald Murphy - I wouldn't be surprised right now there's some kind of national line up in the glaciers of the Himalayas where you have a company to Battalion sized Army on each side looking inside and shooting at each other daily or weekly up there at 15000 feet. This is been going on for a long time

I wonder what the Brookings Institute thinks about how a nuclear-armed Iran might test the Trump administration?
