Interestingly, the Russians are doing essentially the same thing with THEIR 1950's bomber, the Tu-95/142, for essentially the same reasons.

The great thing about the B-52 is that they have really low flight hours for their age. Most of them sat alert for so many years that they just didn't fly much. That is why they are still around to this date and still reaking havoc. They A-10 has been beat to death and it still keeps flying. I agree...I hope they keep it around for a while as well.
