Generally, this post is accurate is what must be avoided; Shayna is accurate in saying that we must become assertive at work. My experience is that "agreeables" earn less, do more and are the most frustrated individuals at work. "Assertives" get their dues, but they also face rejections. Most "assertives" are satisfied in life.

I will concede that at times it can be mentally straining to grapple with asking for something, particularly when it draws on the firm's resources (e.g. salary increase, new equipment, approval for business travel expenses). This article provides a simple and comprehensible way to approach seniority; in extension, it provides the basic means for improving one's sense of confidence and fortitude (at least in a business setting). I would easily recommend keeping an offline copy of this on your desktop, so that you can refer back to it when you need a reassurance "boost".
