I have come to the conclusion that PTSD seems more of a political rather than a psychiatric diagnosis.
Many claimants (but not all) for PTSD disability benefits are actually afflicted with what I call "compensation neurosis". Many of these men and women have transformed the VA system into a vast welfare agency for layabouts. PTSD ipso facto entitles the "sufferer" to sympathy and it would be a contravention of political correctness to censure these "victims" of a combat related malady which after all is sacrosanct in American society. These individuals do not warrant the intervention of a mental health professional. Instead, they must be labeled as malingerers who deserve to be exposed as exploiters of the VA and consigned to the hinterlands of Hades.

Seriously SPC Benjamin Hartog? You're a Vietnam security vet and you think PTSD is more political than a psychiatric condition? Do you have PTSD? Do you have a CIB? You have come to the very wrong condition Specialist. There are a few who try to slip through the cracks, but they are usually caught before they get a disability. Did you write your response so you could use all of those $10 words and show everyone how intelligent you are? None of us vets with PTSD expect any sympathy. Quite the contrary. We don't admit we have it, much less. let anyone else know about it. I don't know where you came up with your conclusion, but you're dead wrong.
"Welcome Home" BTW, Brother.
