As if this type of action wasn't done during WWII? I would suggest that the author when referencing the MOH that he study the full history of it and the military awards system before making such a claim. Secondly, I would also disagree with the author on the basis of how this change started, especially when considering America's change in stance on Isolationism between WWII and Korea, and then between Korea and Vietnam. In regards to how the Korean War (and the United Nations) had such an impact on the nation, I would tell the author to make a similar study of the NYT during the Korean War period.
It is really galling when people disregard the Korean War and its effects on America (and that includes Canada, also).
