Herd immunity is proceeding slowly but surely. Now they need to donate plasma for treatment/vaccine development

Unfortunately sir all studies to date have shown very little promise with convalescent serum.

COL (Join to see) - interesting because in Israel they are using those antibodies to treat the very ill pretty successfully

We are using it in the US as well, however studies that are analyzing the causal relationship and direct effect, have to date found no significant benefit. I work at Mt Sinai in NYC, basically Ground Zero of COVID-19, and we have been leading the convalescent program in the region. The bottom line is that when people are truly sick and require intubation, very little helps compared to placebo. When patients are not that sick, there is a benefit, but how do you know it wasn't just their own body fighting the virus on its own?
No relation to the study but this is a common narrative for the sick patients: https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-perspective/2020/06/no-benefit-convalescent-plasma-covid-19-patients-study-finds

No benefit of convalescent plasma in COVID-19 patients, study finds
Though no effect was found, the study was stopped early because of low enrollment.

Interesting! So, we know 60% of the sailors were affected, tested positive for antibodies. What would be more interesting to know is how many of this 60% required hospitalization. The only useful metric in this whole thing is how many people require hospitalization; we don’t care about who catches the Wuhan Virous and recovers in short order. The thing our country needs to look at is how we can protect our vulnerable population: elderly, etc. That’s the Secret Sause in this whole mess, not “Let’s see how we can destroy our economy.” MHO
