I've seen this posted on several sites, but cannot find anything from the National Parks service or the department of interior on it. I have seen where Yellowstone actively manages their herds. Have you seen anything from a government source on this cull hunt?

This report from the Park Service biologist suggest numbers for a sustainable herd, but no mention of how they would manage the herd.

I was just at the Grand Canyon, I saw many animals but no bison. Nor have I ever seen bison there or heard of bison there. I have family in Williams. They have never heard of Grand Canyon bison. I am calling BS on this story.
However, Yellowstone is trying to cull their herd

After some research, I found that I was wrong. There are 2 active Bison herds in AZ. Both controlled by AZGF. One herd is east of the Grand Canyon in a remote wilderness area. The other south of Flagstaff. AZ offers very controlled guided hunts every to keep the population under control. While I did not locate any info verifying the article, I did find a position paper written by a AZ Game and Fish employee complaining about Bison that have wandered into the Grand Canyon boundry. Those bison are the responsibility of the Feds and AZ has no control over them. The position paper stated that the bison population has outgrown its surroundings and the Feds have failed to manage them. He "suggested" a public hunt on federal lands to cull the herd. However, it appears to be only a suggestion and the Feds have not acted on it.

The U.S. Park Service is looking for hunters to thin the bison in the Grand Canyon so they put the word out on a British Broad Casting website? Are they trying to recruit hunters from the UK? I didn't think you could even own a rifle in the UK?
