This was an uplifting commercial. Unfortunately though, it was done by a foreign business instead of a US business. Now, mind you, the only complaint I have about this is that an American company didn't bother thinking of this, a South Korean company did.

I believe it was done by Hyundai North America (a US Company with facilities in CA, MI, and AL) under the Korean parent company, using a Hollywood film crew in Poland. Yes, it is perhaps a shame that Ford, GM, or another traditional US company did not do it first. However, I believe the fact that it was done is what matters here.

The South Koreans, at least the older ones, still remember and respect what the US had done for them. While I was assigned in South Korea, a bunch of us went TDY during the annual series of joint exercises. We were put up in a hotel, and one morning, while waiting for my vehicle to pull around front, an older gentleman with what I could only guess was his grandson was sitting nearby. I saw the older man tell his grandson something. The little boy walked over, and said something in Korean (I don't speak Korean) and then bowed to me. I returned his bow and smiled at the older man. He managed a nod and said "thank you." That really touched me and made what I was doing there and in the Army in general mean something more than it had a moment before.
As for the commercial, I thought it was the best one of the evening. No political undertones and was nice to see someone taking care of our troops forward deployed.
