I live in Canada while in the USAR from 2006-2021 and I deployed from Canada to Fort Bragg and then to Afghanistan and back in 2008-2009.

The Canadian government has failed leadership as well. The government didn't move fast to try to get its interpreters out even though you had former and current Canadian military trying to push the Canadian government to do something to get them out in the limited time they had.

I am sure hundreds of interpreters who helped the USA are also in the same boat.

Almost a year later after the fall of Afghanistan, no service chiefs or high-level personnel in the Department of Defense nor in the Department of State have lost their jobs.

If this would have been a failure under the Trump administration, someone would have been fired. Democrats would have been screaming and impeachment proceedings would have progressed forward again.

This is an administration that rewards bad behavior and doubles down when someone challenges them.

I served at Provincial Reconstruction Team FARAH In Western Afghanistan. 2008-2009. I was an Army Civil Affairs Captain ( D Co. 426th CA BN. Upland, CA) involved in the Commander's Emergency Response Program (CERP). I was basically a project officer working with different departments within my base and with the locals to approve projects of up to $200k.
It was a lot of paperwork and satisfying but I used to be a claims adjuster for an insurance company so it wasn't too much different doing all the documentation.

We also helped out women who had their own businesses. Now under the taliban, women are now Stuck in their homes and can't go out.

We were only a small team made up of elements from other civil affairs units but our civil affairs battalion was strung out all over Afghanistan.

The Captain who took over for my position in 2009 recently told me on Facebook that the interpreter/ Office assistant named Firooz did get out with his family before Afghanistan collapsed.

It was great to work with marine special operations forces next door and with the navy medical team that was that was on the base because they gave me suggestions of different projects to do.

Ever since we left Afghanistan the way we did, I have lost patience with this President. You can blame President Trump for wanting to pull out early but Afghanistan fell under president Biden's watch and he came out and said 'the buck stops with him' but he's actually Mr. Excuses.
