This whole Starbucks incident bugs me for several reasons.
1. In the age of Millennials, it's not unusual to see folks hanging in coffee shops for hours; you don't always see a store cup or bag on the table by them.
2. We never found out how long the two guys were sitting there before manager engaged them.
3. The two guys should've bought a cheap drink or just wait outside; especially when the cops asked them to leave.
4. The cops could've managed this better. Ok you arrested them for disturbance and refusing to follow lawful order from police. Take them outside in cuffs. Give them a stern warning then uncuff and release.
5. BLM and others are overreacting and now we're possibly going to see folks stage incidents to see if this was an isolated incident or more.
6. Anti-BLM folks are already on the social media attack calling this a case of Black Privilege. Didn't know that was a thing.
In my opinion, this incident was elevated when they were arrested and had charges initially filed against them. Point #4 could've made this a "nothing burger".

SFC (Join to see) - Thanks for the video. The customer who started shouting at McD's staff definitely was creating a disturbance and being disorderly and challenging the authority of the officer. At that point, she could've have detained him too. That guy didn't help by being volatile and combative; didn't handle the situation well at all. The video was rightfully viral that portrayed the ignorance of McD management and any customers that complained about the homeless guy. Also showed arrogant behavior of the customer filming.
How would you handle it if you were the guy filming? Hopefully in a manner that is both respectful to other customers, the cop, and more importantly the homeless guy.

MAJ James Woods - If I was the cop in the McDonald's I may have put cuffs on him. There is also video from her body cam out there too. Shows pretty much the same a little more.

The Starbucks guys I'd have escorted out like the McDonald's guy was escorted.

SFC (Join to see) - If I was the cop I'd arrest the disorderly guy creating the disturbance as well. If I was the customer, I'd say "ok, no problem. You want him to leave, we'll take our food and leave." Then took the guy outside, sat next to him outside and finished eating.
As with Starbucks, I hold the customer as much responsible as the manager and the police for any escalation that occurs.
