An hour is short by comparison. Change of command/retirement send off. "I don't want to take up too much of your time..." sounds nice until you are still at parade rest 4 hours later.

SPC Casey Ashfield Change of Command you get the double whammy long speech about what an honor it was to command such a fine group of people from outgoing. Long speech about what an honor it is to be taking command of a great group from the incoming.

Hey I sat thru a regimental change of command at Ft. Knox back in the mid 90's where the outgoing commander sat up there for 1 hour and 48 minutes, most of it was just thanking everybody, and I mean by name everybody that worked for him. That does not include all the other's who spoke.
