Me and my team of photographers still and rolling went to the east West German border to record opening the frontier. We got to the base where we would be staying and went to the small club they had. We drank all their beer and hard Liquer remember it was a small base and club. We were hung over the next day that's another story but we completed the mission and got great results. It was really cool to see the people from communist Germany cross the border some had never known that kind of freedom to travel like that.

Well with that experience and some forewarning that the Yanks are coming they can stock up on their booze and beer supplies in preparation for the arrival. I'm sure they will remember that and its good it was a positive experience for everyone also.

Guess the owners of the bars did ok in their earnings over the course of time the Navy and Marines were in their community. Sounds also though that is was a positive experience for both the American service people and the host local citizens of Iceland.
