LTC (Join to see) It is just another instance of People wanting their voice to be heard by government. The real global issue is that governments are so busy telling the people that they know what is best, and have the people's best interests in mind that they are not listening to the people. The people are pissed, and lashing out at mainstream politics. Then you have the U.S. where it seems that in the end the sheep will be anointing another king (or maybe queen) to rule over us for the next four years. Iceland has the benefit of a smaller population. It is easier to have a movement against mainstream politics work when it takes far fewer people to succeed. Look at third parties in the U.S. Even though both the Libertarian (Former NM Gov. Gary Johnson) and Green (Dr. Jill Stein) have candidates who are solid alternatives to the D and R parties, they are not even invited to the Debates because they "do not have high enough poll numbers."
Our system is broken. It may be broken to a degree that it cannot be fixed. I for one am glad to see that in one small part of the world, pissed off people can still make a difference.

Now if they had just called it the VIKING party instead of the pirate party...

I was not against them I just know Kim Fatassian's robbery and stolen jewelry or the political schism in the USA glosses over a cool story so this is why I posted this Canadian paper article.
