Having a Heavy BCT rotating in with equipment every 6-9 months is a start. We need to relook at Brigade prepositioned stock because sea lift is going to take weeks. In 36-60 hours our allies are deep in it already.

Interesting article, reminded me of the days when the great red menace was coming through the Fulda Gap.

MSgt Mark Bucher we had 45 minutes to roll out the gate with an emergency dispatch and all equipment loaded to back up 11th ACR. Rehearsed the plan every year during REFORGER...Rock of the Marne!

If Russia ever decided to commit such an act and invade Europe, and the United States responded to match Russian forces - deploying many assets from the U.S. and if in the second phase of the war, Iran and China engaged in surprise attacks to redirect our efforts and split our forces - this may very well be the plan that is needed to deplete enough military forces from the United States leaving our homeland vulnerable to conventional, unconventional, insurgent, terrorist, and cyber attacks. Perhaps the real objective would be for Russia to make us think they are invading Europe - all the while their real intent would be to use a coordinated attack in the 2nd half to take a more prized trophy - Alaska (maybe not the whole state), but by taking Alaska from the U.S. - then we no longer stand against Russia in taking and controlling the Artic Ocean and all of its oil assets. Right now, it is because of Alaska that the U.S. can claim rights to the Artic and stand shoulder to shoulder with other countries like Canada, Norway, Finland, Greenland, and Sweden - all who claim rights to the Artic, but without the United States - none of these countries would stand a fighting chance against Russia. Is such an attack possible, yes - absolutely. Is such an attack likely - probably not, given that this kind of war would escalate quickly forcing one side or the other to use nuclear weapons... something no side wants to do, because nobody wants to occupy or own anything that has been turned into a wasteland. This is my professional opinion after 20+ years of service in the Intelligence Community and I welcome the opinion of others - as it will help us to consider other possibilities and explore our vulnerabilities as well as help us strengthen our defenses, and more importantly our strategy.
