If Israel weren't prepared there wouldn't be an Israel to defend. Sadly, American Jews, it appears, haven't gotten the word. Indeed, many American Jews condemn Israel for its aggressive defense. Even worse, some appear ready to march passively into the ovens once again...

Article for your consideration and some American Jews don't like comparing apples with oranges. You ignore that Israel still has a conscript military for defense and most guns of populace are official government issued weapons for service. Although regulations are looser in outside settlements, ammunition purchase and private gun ownership laws are stricter within major Israeli cities compared to the US.
