Interesting how history portrays Ike. Patton felt he was a political worry wart. Always worried about his reputation and his career. Not what you get from the direct autobiographies about him. Curious which one was closer to the mark. Supreme Commander is a huge responsibility and being political is a skill needed to bring different teams together. Right guy right time in my opinion.

Most excellent post. Ike was the man for job and rose to the occasion and served our country in the last Great War and was probably our last truly great President.

Interesting note, one of the solders pictured with IKE is Sherman Oyler from my home town. Per the family we are not related however I am short and stocky, my great grandpa was, and so was Mr Oyler. IKE is from KS, whoever imagine such fight from a bunch of Kansans!
