It is important to review MOH submissions as there were quite a few that were denied based on their race. Case in point was the Japanese-Americans in the 442nd Regimental Combat Team in WWII. They ended up receiving I believe 19 after review of their records. Sadly, some units put restrictions on the awarding of the MOH. In the 101st Airborne during Normandy, they only authorized one award which went to Ltc Cole for leading a bayonet charge and was killed. This is why Major Dick Winters received a DSC. recent attempts to review his records have met with failure. I've had the pleasure of working with two MOH recipients in my Army career, both CSMs by then from Vietnam, and very impressive in their being so humble. God love them.

This could be a very touchy subject if they decide to rescind the award. Take your time and make sure the right thing is done. Tread lightly.
